Land Bank Raises $4,100 for Cancer Research                              Back to News Page

The FLBA of North Alabama teamed up May 11 to support the effort to find a cure for cancer. The event was the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event.

The association purchased a 42-inch flat-screen television, and all FLBA of North Alabama employees joined together and sold 1,000 raffle tickets. The ticket sales raised a grand total of $4,100, which was doated to the American Cancer Society for cancer research.

Since a member of our own FLBA family has been affected by this issue, all of our Relay for Life efforts were dedicated in memory of Matthew Hester. Dale Hester, vice president/Tuscumbia branch manager, and his wife, Becky lost their 17-year-old son, Matthew, on September 3, 2006.

The FLBA of North Alabama was proud to present the flat-screen TV to the winner, Jerry Duckett, who happens to be a customer ofd the Land Bank's Albertville branch. Congratulations, Jerry, and thanks to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and helped make this year's Relay for Life event a success.
